Questa nave fu ordinata dalla Costa crociere nel 1958 ai cantieri Ansaldo di Sestri Ponente e fu denominata FEDERICO C. Essa fu gestita dalla Costa Line fino al 1983. Nel 1983 fu ceduta alla Premier Crociere che la rinominò ROYALE , ed in seguitonel corso dello stesso anno STARSHIP ROYALE . Nel 1988, fu rinominata SEA BREEZE gestita dalla Dolphin Crociere. Nel 1989, subì lavori di ammodernamento e ritornò alla gestione della Premier Crociere fino al 1997. Con la cessazione delle attività della Premier, la nave nel settembre 2000, fu posta in disarmo nel porto di Halifax.
Ritornata in attività nel dicembre 2000 mentre si trovava al largo delle coste della Carolina del Nord / Virginia a causa del mare in tempesta subì un incidente nella sala macchine ed inizio ad imbarcare acqua, ed affondò.
Questo naufragio destò particolare attenzione in quanto le reali cause della sciagura sono poco chiare, infatti sembra strano la rapidità con cui è affondata, e qualcuno paventò il dubbio che l'incidente fosse tutt'altro che fortuito.

This ship was ordered by the Costa cruises in 1958 with Ansaldo yards of Sestri Ponente and was named FEDERICO C. It was managed by the Coast Line until 1983. In 1983 it was sold to Premier Cruises that renaming ROYALE, and seguitonel in the same year STARSHIP ROYALE. In 1988, was renamed SEA BREEZE managed by Dolphin Cruises. In 1989, was the work of modernization and returned to the management of Premier Cruises until 1997. With the closure of the Premier, the vessel in September 2000, was placed in disarmament in the port of Halifax.
Back in business in December 2000 while he was off the coast of North Carolina / Virginia because of stormy seas suffered an accident in the engine room and board to begin water and sank.
This shipwreck is of particular attention because the real causes of the accident are unclear, it seems strange to the speed with which sank, and some fear a doubt that the incident was anything but haphazard.
