STATE CONTROLL Storia : Costruita a Monfalcone nei Cantieri Riuniti dell'Adriatico nel 1965 (Impostata il 29.10.1961, varata 15. 01. 1963, consegnata il 03.04.1965) Costruzione n° 1876. Dati tecnici di costruzione– 39241 tsl - 8600 tpl - 206,00 x 29,40 x 19,90 m - 3 caldaie - 2 gruppi turboriduttori - 55000 CA - 2 eliche - 27 nodi - Pass.: 1601 in classe unica. All'epoca era un transatlantico di lusso, progettato e costruito per effettuare crociere nei mari Nord Americani e nei Caraibi. Si può dire che l' Oceanic anticipò i tempi essendo stato il primo transatlantico di grandi dimensioni costruito esclusivamente per servizio crocieristico. La sua linea, e le sue forme ne facevano una nave all'avanguardia sia stilisticamente che tecnicamente. Lunga fuori tutto 238,5 m oltre a disporre di razionali sistemazioni per i passeggeri è caratterizzata dalla sistemazione delle due piscine e a prora del fumaiolo, che all'occorrenza possono essere coperti da una vera e propria cupola d'acciaio e cristallo che grazie ad un impianto di riscaldamento a raggi infrarossi, consente il loro utilizzo anche in climi freddi e con brutto tempo. Questo sistema fu adottato per la prima volta nel mondo su questa nave, ed in seguito da molte altre navi estere destinate al servizio crocieristico. Per le sue attrezzature, e per gli innovativi apparati per la navigazione e la sicurezza della vita umana in mare, alla sua entrata in servizio fu definita la "Nave del Futuro" . dopo il varo (03.04.1965 )l' OCEANIC dellaHome Line Inc. – Panama , Il 24. 04. 1965, parte da Trieste diretta a Genova e New York e quindi prende servizio fra New York e le isole Bahamas. Di seguito cambia diversi armatori e bandiere e alcune variazioni nel nome: 1985: Pilgrim Cruises (Greyhound Bus Co.) – Panama Nel 1985 ROYALE OCEANIC e poi STARSHIP OCEANIC: Premier Cruise Line – Panama, in servizio crocieristico nei Caraibi . 1998 OCEANIC: Pullmantur - Nassau 31. 12. 2003 e poi Valletta. Dall'aprile 2009 rinominata The Oceanic con la bandiera di Panama ,attualmente in servizio
