Costituiva una classe, di 6 unità:IMPAVIDO - INSIDIOSO - INDOMITO - IRREQUIETO - IMPETUOSO - INTREPIDO
Le navi di questa classe furono costruite dai Pattison di Napoli e Orlando di Livorno.
Furono i primi cacciatorpediniere italiani a montare turbine al posto delle motrici alternative allora in uso.
Le navi avevano buone qualità nautiche, veloci e dotate di buon armamento, e furono prese a modello progettuale per le successive classi Pilo, Sirtori, La Masa e Generali.
Tutte sopravvissero alla prima guerra mondiale. Nel 1929 vennero declassate a torpediniere.
Tutte furono radiate alla fine degli anni Trenta, ad eccezione della RN Insidioso che restò in attività sino alla sua perdita avvenuta durante la seconda guerra mondiale.
Catturato all'armistizio, incorporato nella Kriegsmarine come TA 21, affondato da aerei il 5 novembre 1944.
Il relitto della TA 21 fu recuperato e demolito nel 1947.

The ships of this class were built by Pattison Naples and Orlando in Livorno.
They were the first Italian destroyers to mount turbines instead of driving alternatives then in use.
The ships had good seaworthiness , speed and equipped with good weapons , and were taken as a model project for the following classes Pilo , Sirtori , Masa and Conditions.
All survived the First World War. In 1929 were downgraded to torpedo boats .
All were radiated at the end of the thirties, with the exception of RN Insidious which remained in business until his loss occurred during the Second World War.
Captured armistice, built in Kriegsmarine as TA 21, sunk by aircraft November 5, 1944.
The wreck of the TA 21 was recovered and demolished in 1947.
