Costruita per la Bank
Line Ld di Belfast nel 1940, fu requisita durante la seconda guerra
mondiale e nel 1941 affondata a Suda. Fu poi recuperata e rimorchiata
in Italia. Nel 1946 fu venduta ad Achille Lauro. Nel 1947 fu sottoposta
a lavori di trasformazione in nave passeggeri presso i cantieri Odero
Terni Orlando del Muggiano e fu completata nell'agosto 1948 con una
capacita' di 656 passeggeri ( 90 prima classe, 86 in seconda classe
e 483 terza) .il 15.09.1948 partì per il viaggio inaugurale
per l'Australia. da settembre 1951 passò alla linea del Sud
America ( Brasile-Plata ). Ne.1952 vennero rimosse le sistemazioni
passeggeri e riprese il servizio come nave da carico. 3-4-1971 demolita
a La Spezia.

Built
for the Bank Ld Line Belfast in 1940, it was requisitioned during
the Second World War and in 1941 sunk to Suda. It was later recovered
and towed to Italy. In 1946 he was sold to Achille Lauro. In 1947
she underwent conversion work on passenger ship at the shipyard Odero
Terni Orlando Muggiano and was completed in August 1948 with a capacity
'of 656 passengers (90 first class, 86 in second class and 483 third)
.the 15.09. 1948 he left for the maiden voyage to Australia. by September
1951 he passed the line of South America (Brazil-Plata). Ne.1952 were
removed the passenger accommodations and resumed service as a cargo
ship. 04/03/1971 demolished in La Spezia.
