Questa
nave varata nel 1939 per effettuare servizio di linea, per conto dell'
United States Lines,
fino al 1940 efettuò servizio di linea nel nord Atlantico.
Nel 1941 fu requisita dalla Marina Militare Americana e trasformata
in trasporto truppe denominata WEST
POINT.
nel 1946 ritornò in servizio civile per conto della United
States Lines e rinominata AMERICA
Nel 1964 passò alla Chandris Group che la rinominò AUSTRALIS
e restò in servizio fino al 1978. Per un brece periodo sempre
nel 1978 fi gestita dalla Venture Cruises , poi ancora dalla Chandris
Group fino al 1980 rinominata ITALIS. Dal 1980 al 1984 fu acquisita
dalla Intercommerce Corporation , poi passò all Silver Moon
Ferries fino al 1992 e rinominata ancora NOGA.
Termino la sua carrierà con la Chaophraya Transport Coe
rinominata
AMERICAN STAR
Nel febbraio 1993 la nave fu venduta per essere trasformata in una
nave albergo a cinque stelle (ALFERDOSS )a Phuket, in Thailandia.
Furono smontati apparato motore ed eliche e rimorchiata dalla grecia
fino alla destinazione finale. Durante il rimorchio mentre erano in
Atlantico e largo di Fuerteventure le due unità s'imbatterono
in una tempesta che causò l'incaglio della nave, vani furono
gli sforzi di recuperarla e fu lasciata in balia del mare. Il 10.01.1994
rimase incagliata nella posizione : Lat. 28°20' N - Long. 14°10'
W.

This
ship was launched in 1939 to carry out scheduled service, on behalf
of the 'United States Lines, until 1940 efettuò line service
in the North Atlantic.
In 1941 it was requisitioned by the Navy and converted into a troop
transport called WEST
POINT.
in 1946 he returned to civilian service on behalf of the United States
Lines and renamed AMERICA In 1964 it
passed to the Chandris Group, which renamed Australis and remained in
service until 1978 for a period also in 1978 Brece fi managed by Venture
Cruises, then again by the Chandris Group until 1980 renamed ITALIS.
From 1980 to 1984 it was acquired by Intercommerce Corporation, then
moved to Silver Moon Ferries until 1992 and renamed again NOGA.
Ended his career with the Chaophraya Transport Co and renamed AMERICAN
STAR.
In February 1993 the ship was sold to be turned into a ship five-star
hotel (ALFERDOSS) in Phuket, Thailand. Apparatus was disassembled engine
and propellers and towed from Greece to the final destination. During
the trailer while they were in the Atlantic and off the coast of Fuerteventure
the two units they ran into a storm that caused the stranding of the
ship, were vain efforts to recover and was left at the mercy of the
