INFORMAZIONI STORICHE
Questa unità fu costruita nei cantieri di Newport News in Virginia.La chiglia fu impostata il 4 giugno 1956, ed il varo avvenne il 5 marzo 1957. Entrò in servizio l'8 novembre 1957. Partecipò alla azione di blocco di Cuba e all'invasione dei marines della Repubblica Dominicana. Il 17 luglio 1972 fu ceduta all'Italia. Durante il servizio attivo in Italia è stata nave insegna della IIIª Divisione Navale. Fu posta in disarmo nel 1988 e radiata definitivamente il 1992.

HISTORICAL INFO
This unit was built in the shipyard in Newport News Virginia.La keel was laid June 4, 1956, and the launch took place March 5, 1957. Entered service on 8 November 1957. He participated in the blocking action of the marines and the invasion of Cuba in the Dominican Republic. On July 17, 1972 was ceded to Italy. During active service in Italy was the ship teaches III rd Naval Division.He was laid up in 1988 and finally decommissioned in 1992.
