Durante la Seconda Guerra
Mondiale fu impiegata come trasporto truppe e materiali dall'Italia
all'Africa Settentrionale.
Fu denominata HEILDELBERG . Al termine della guerra durante la ritirata i tedeschi l'abbandonarono a San Rocco, la nave aveva subito danni da attacchi aerei, nell'aprile 1947 dopo il ripristino avvenuto nel 1946, ritornò al servizio normale, e dal 3.Giugno 1947 sostituì sulla linea postale Napoli-Palermo-Tunisi il Piroscafo ABBAZIA. Nel 1952 fu sottoposta a lavori di trasformazione ed ammodernamento , il il 28 Maggio 1952 ritornò a Napoli per rientrare in servizio sulla linea Napoli-Palermo-Tunisi. Nel 1970 per breve tempo fu assegnata alla linea Napoli-Cagliari-Palermo. Il 16 Novembre 1970 fu trasferita da Napoli a Trieste e posta in disarmo in attesa della demolizione avvenuta nell'estate 1971.
