INFORMAZIONI
STORICHE
Alla
costruzione era denominata PORTHOS costruita nel 1975 per la
compagnia Nomikos M.P.Al momento della consegna a causa di un problema
di vibrazioni e della crisi petrolifera, l'armatore ne rifiuta il ritiro.
Il cantiere ne cambiò la denominazione e la ribatezzò
OPPAMA cercandone un'altro acquirente. Nel 1979, fu acquistata dalla
compagnia Tung Chao Yung che l’ha ribatezzò SEAWISE GIANT.
La nave fu allungata di 81 metri. Il 14 maggio 1988, mentre era ormeggiata
al terminal petrolifero di Ormuz, fu colpita da bombe irache e si incendiò.L'incendio
causò gravi danni e la nave fu rimorchiata a Brunei. Nel 1989,
fu acquistata dalla compagnia First Oil Tankers che la rinominò
HAPPY GIANT che nel 1991 la portò ai lavori a Singapore.Sempre
nel 1991, la compagnia First Oil Tankers fonde con la compagnia First
Oil Tankers e la nave viene ribattezzata JAHRE
VIKING. Nel 2004, fu venduta alla società Fred Olsen
Tankers che la rinominò KNOCK NEVIS. La nave fu trasformata
in unità di stoccaggio e di scarico a Dubaï dove rimase
fino al 2009 fino alla vendita per demolizione cantiere Priya Blue di
Alang che la rinominò MONT. nel dicembre 2009 fu spiaggiata
ad Alang e demolita. L'unico pezzo ancora estistente della nave è
una delle sue ancore che fu portata a Hong-Kong dopo la demolizione.

The building was named PORTHOS built
