La
Stern, fu costruita con il nome di Friesland e rimase in servizio
fino al 1937 sotto vari skipper come nave mercantile a vela. Nel
1937 lo skipper Van Wijngaarden convertì la nave in una
lussuosa nave da carico con un motore diesel a petrolio greggio
Elve con 2 cilindri e 90 CV in sala macchine.
Le caratteristiche di un clipper sono la curva a S a prua, la
prua svasata e la poppa rifilata, chiaramente a punta con un timone
forato. Sebbene sia nata intorno ai principali fiumi e idealmente
adatta a questo e ai torrenti dell'Olanda Meridionale e della
Zelanda, la nave si è rapidamente diffusa in tutti i Paesi
Bassi. Il clipper divenne un mercantile universale con cui tutto
poteva essere trasportato.
Il veliero classe Klipper prende il nome dalla classe 'Clipper'
di navigazione da mare, veloce e piccolo cargo, operativa nell'800,
tutti riconoscibili per la curva a S di prua, la prua allargata
e il ponte di poppa che sporge sull'acqua con il timone sotto
e non dietro.

The
Stern was built under the name of Friesland and remained in
service until 1937 under various skippers as a sailing merchant
ship. In 1937 skipper Van Wijngaarden converted the ship into
a luxury cargo ship with an Elve crude oil diesel engine with
2 cylinders and 90hp in engine room.
Characteristics of a clipper are the S-curve at the bow, the
flared bow and the trimmed stern, clearly pointed with a perforated
rudder. Although she was born around major rivers and ideally
suited to this and the streams of South Holland and Zeeland,
the ship quickly spread throughout the Netherlands. The clipper
became a universal freighter with which everything could be
transported.
The Klipper class sailing ship takes its name from the 'Clipper'
class of sea navigation, fast and small cargo, operational in
the 19th century, all recognizable by the S-curve in the bow,
the enlarged bow and the stern deck that protrudes over the
water with the rudder below and not behind.
