Le informazioni storiche su questo veliero sono varie, alcuni dicono che è la più antica di Ibiza e Formentera, che in passato era un llaud a due alberi, con sartiame chiamiamo Falucho, dopo la forma della nave è cambiata adeguandosi man mano alle esigenze dell'epoca. Alla fine del XIX secolo è fu chiamato VELOZ Nel 1932 fu rinominato RAFAEL VERDERA in memoria di uno dei morti dell'armatore. Dopo i festeggiamenti da parte delle autorità d?Ibiza per i suoi cento anni , è stato sottoposto a lavori di ristrutturazione, modificando la poppa ( con poppa tonda ) e creando la cabina per il governo della nave al fine di consentire il riparo per i timonieri e l'equipaggio in servizio. Durante la guerra fu rinominato SA BALANDRETA impiegato per il trasporto delle merci tra Palma di Maiorca e Ibiza. Nel 1920, dopo 79 anni di navigazione a vela fu installato il suo primo motore, Otto Deuz due cilindri e 40 CV, che fu sostituito nel 1934 da un Volund 65 cv a due tempi , poi nel 1989 con un Cumins 6 cilindri e 200 CV,e infine nel 2000 è due motori Volvo 145 CV e sono state montate con 2 eliche. Con la fine della navigazione a vela anche il RAFAEL VERERA si è adeguato ai tempi, in realtà anche se vi sono ancora gli alberi e l'armamento velico al completo, la navigazione a vela si effettua solo per fini turistici lungo le coste.
