INFORMAZIONI
STORICHE
La Pincess Danae insieme alla gemella Princess Daphne furono costruite nel 1955 come navi da carico veloci che avevano una S.L. di 10.501 tons ed un DWT di 3.704 tonn. La prima denominazione fu Port Melbourne. Con una velocità di servizio di 17 nodi era tra le navi da carico più veloci dell'epoca. Fu proprio per questa alta velocità che nel 1972 fu trasformata in nave da passeggeri. All'inizio fu utilizzata come nave traghetto e fu denominata Therissos Express. In seguito fu trasformata in nave da crociera di lusso ma l'operazione non ebbe sccesso e la nave fu noleggiata per le crociere commerciali alle Linee Lauro tra il 1978-1979, ed in seguito anche alla Lines Costa che l'acquisto definitivamente nel 1984.
The Pincess Danae along with sister Princess Daphne were built in 1955 as a cargo ship that had a fast SL of 10,501 tons and a DWT of 3704 tons. The first name was Port Melbourne. With a service speed of 17 knots was among the fastest cargo ships of the time. It was for this high-speed in 1972 was converted into a passenger vessel. At first it was used as a ferry and was named Therissos Express. It was later converted into a luxury cruise ship but the operation did not sccesso and the vessel was chartered for the cruise trade to Lauro Lines between 1978-1979, and later also to the Coast Lines definitively that the purchase in 1984.
